Over 20 volunteers in New Malden have planted a wildflower meadow in Kingston Road Recreation Ground after complaints from residents the park looked rundown.
Volunteers helped in planting and sowing two large areas with wild flowers in the park situated on Kingston Road on September 16 and enjoyed a picnic together.
A member of New Malden Residents’ Association had contacted the non-profit group in August with concerns that the recreation ground situated in New Malden looked "rundown."
Tariq Shabbeer, from Kingston Environment Centre said: " It now looks like New Malden has its very own crop circles, with round and chevron shaped wildflower meadows.
“It will look fantastic in a few months."
Frances Marsh, committee member of New Malden Residents’ Association, said: “The residents of California Road are the driving force behind the work to be done
“We believe that this is an example of ‘people power’.”
