Southern and Thameslink train lines have been blocked due to a person being hit by a train between Gatwick Airport and East Croydon.

As a result, services between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected to continue until at least 18:00.

The power to the lines in the area has been switched off to allow Network Rail response staff and the emergency services to attend to the incident.

Southern Rail and Thameslink both sent out tweets notifying the public at 15.30.

Tickets will be accepted on the following alternative services:

  • Southern and Thameslink are accepting each others tickets on all reasonable routes
  • Metro Buses between Redhill, Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Crawley and Horsham
  • Southdown bus route 424 and 422 between Redhill and Crawley
  • London Buses route 405 between Redhill and East Croydon
  • London Underground on all reasonable routes
  • South Western Railway between London, Portsmouth and Southampton
  • Southeastern between London, Tonbridge, Hastings and Ashford International
