The folk duo India Electric Co is performing in Esher next month as part of a tour of abandoned churches in the South West across Surrey, Essex and Kent.
Organised with the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT), the candlelit concert will be held on October 11 at 7.30pm in Esher’s St George’s Church, which dates back to 1540AD.
The duo is comprised of singer Cole Stacey and multi-instrumentalist Joseph O’Keefe. Their music is influenced by the countryside and sounds of the violin, guitar, accordion and mandolin.
Mr Stacey said: “We’ve very fond memories of playing in the area with Midge a year or so back and it’s a beautiful building that has an incredible history and strong links to Queen Victoria, it’ll be a privilege to host a concert there.”
He added: ““It’s an extremely exciting project that is developing alongside the CCT and a wonderful opportunity for us to bring our concerts to a new audience in places with such heritage and history.”
