Police are appealing for information after three men carried out a  "brazen attack" in Shepperton.

Just after 7am on September 15 three men with faces covered entered the High Street Sainsbury's and robbed two cash transit workers of three cash boxes.

They threatened the workers using a sledgehammer and a glass bottle. Neither of the men, or members of the public, were injured.

Detective Inspector Jim Strugnell said:

“This was a shocking brazen attack on two workers which we are taking extremely seriously.

“We have a number of witnesses to the incident itself and are carrying out numerous enquiries in the area, but the key part the public can help us with is any information about the men’s movements before and after it happened.

“We know they arrived in a grey Audi and left the area in it too, but we have recovered this vehicle where it was abandoned in Bruce Avenue.

“There they got into another vehicle, a grey Audi A3 or similar with a suspected false number plate of SC66HCH, and turned onto Green Lane. It is likely that they might have already swapped number plates on this vehicle.

“This car may have been parked up waiting for them or arrived in time to take them away. If anyone saw them swapping over cars, or was near Sainsburys before 7.16am and noticed anything suspicious beforehand please get in touch with us immediately.”

The three men were wearing black balaclavas at the time of the robbery and are described as:

  • Grey hooded top and grey tracksuit trousers with white shoes
  • Grey and dark hooded top and dark bottoms, white shoes
  • Dark hooded top and grey jogging bottoms and dark shoes.

All were wearing gloves and face coverings and their hoods were up.  They were stocky build and believed over 6ft.
