Round the Borough Bike is returning on Sunday, May13.

Now in its fifth year, this free annual event attracts beginners, keen cyclists and families.

Last year more than 200 individuals took part - with the youngest participant aged just two years old and the oldest 83!

Councillor Barry Nash, Chairman of the Council's Community and Wellbeing Committee said: "Round the Borough Bike is the ideal opportunity to enjoy the borough's stunning scenery.

"Whether you're enjoying the bike ride on your own, with a friend or all the family, don't miss the chance to explore Epsom and Ewell! Register today for this popular event."

The event follows an off-road marked and marshalled route of approximately 20 miles across some of the most attractive parts of the borough including Epsom Downs, Epsom Common, Nonsuch Park, the Hogsmill and Horton Country Park.

It starts and finishes at Horton Country Park with a staggered start from around 9.15am for keen cyclists and at 9.30am for those wanting a more leisurely experience.

Off-road cycles are recommended. Participants who complete the route will receive a certificate in recognition of their achievement and participants under 16 years get a medal.

Online registration closes on Thursday 10 May at 4pm, but those wishing to register on the day can do so up until 9am at Horton Country Park. All pre-registered participants must also sign in by 9am.

The council are looking for volunteers to help out as course marshals at key locations along the route.

If you are able to spare a couple of hours between 10am - 3pm, please email: leisuredevelopments@epsom-ewell.gov.uk Full briefing and equipment will be provided. Your role is vital and much appreciated by the participants as they cycle the route.

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council launched the Round the Borough Hike and Bike challenge in 2014, to build on the legacy of the London Olympics and the borough hosting stage 7 of the 2013 Tour of Britain.
