Firefighters and MP Crispin Blunt attended a party at a Banstead care home to celebrate its new bistro and assisted living quarters.

Crispin Blunt cut the red ribbon and explored the renovated ground floor at Sunrise of Banstead, in Croydon Road, on April 20.

He later Tweeted: “Huge enjoyment at Sunrise of Banstead opening newly refurbished ground floor.

"Also special moment remembering resident Mari who for six years contributed to joie d’vivre of the bistro area now named after her.”

The restaurant served champagne alongside a range of mouth-watering canapes and live entertainment.

Suzanne Garston, Divisional Support General Manager at Sunrise of Banstead, said: “Our VIP party was a great way to launch our very impressive new assisted living neighbourhood, in which we will provide the highest standards of care to our residents.

“I’d like to thank Crispin Blunt MP and our other guests for their support, and for making the celebrations so enjoyable for everyone.

“Launching our fresh new neighbourhood is an important milestone in our very exciting journey, and we are looking forward to going from strength to strength over the coming months and years.”
