An Epsom dad is running the London Marathon in a bee-spoke costume for a local charity.
Barnaby Hopson, 46, hopes to set the Guinness World Record as the fastest man to run a marathon dressed as an insect.
He will also raise money for Refugees at Home, where he volunteers, a charity which helps homeless asylum seekers escaping conflict or human rights abuses.
Barnaby said: “At first it seemed like a fun idea but to be honest, as the day gets closer, I am now wondering, what on earth I was thinking.
“The costume is actually alright to run in but it gets very hot!”
Refugees at Home was Epsom founded in Epsom and provides emergency accommodation for homeless asylum seekers by matching them with people with a spare room who are willing to let them stay in their home.
Most are destitute and awaiting the outcome of their asylum applications and therefore not entitled to work or receive any benefits.
“I am truly amazed there are people charitable and good willed enough to offer up a room in their home to a stranger and I wanted to help by raising funds and awareness,” added Barnaby.
The London Marathon is on April 22. He has currently raised more than £1,000
Donor Clare Coker wrote: ‘I'm sure you'll buzz along nicely..... Love the fact that you are going for a record attempt and the costume is fab... you will be carrying the flowers I hope. From all of us Cokers - Good Luck’
Sam Ivin, another donor, said: ‘Good luck Barnaby. Hope you fly round and set the record you are aiming for. We’ll be looking out for you.’
