Refugee families from Syria and Iraq supported by Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) banded together to raise funds for the charity in a sponsored walk in Richmond Park.
Surbiton Farmers' Market volunteers, who organised the event, RAK staff and refugee families marched around the park armed with inflatable bananas as part of the market's inspired theme of ‘Go Bananas’.
RAK is the only organisation that provides advice and support for more than 3,000 refugees, asylum seekers and their families in Kingston and surrounding boroughs.
The Surbiton Famer’s Market launched an appeal this month to help RAK grow its hardship fund, which will go towards emergency accommodation, food, transport and other services, such as a homework club for refugee children.
