A signalling problem at St Margaret's station is delaying commuter trains into London, South West Trains has said.

Delays of 10 minutes are expected for commuters travelling from Richmond to London Waterloo.

The operator said: "A fault with the signalling system that allows signallers to see where our trains are located on the railway has occured in the St. Margarets area.

"Trains heading in the London-bound direction will, at one particular point in their journey, be required to come to a halt and obtain verbal permission from their signaller before continuing.

"This will delay trains by up to 10 minutes on their journey through Richmond and on to London Waterloo.

"We are sorry for the delay this morning."
