We may not have had the Red Arrows, but Kingston residents were out in force at weekend street parties to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday, writes Tom Donovan.
Maureen Clyne, 76, from Pine Walk, Berrylands, said the party she organised with three neighbours was “absolutely fantastic” and “exceeded our wildest dreams”.
On offer were a tug of war competition, a game of guessing how many sweets were in a jar plus the chance to pin the tail on a corgi.
Mrs Clyne added: “People mixed and got to know each other who didn’t know each other. Everybody participated in cleaning up at the end.”
