A Worcester Park boys’ brigade will celebrate its 80th anniversary this year with a special church service.
The 10th Mid Surrey Boys’ Brigade Company, which provides informal education to five to 18 year olds from the area, has announced it will host the service at Christ Church with St. Philip on Sunday, July 3.
The Worcester Park group was formed in 1936.
David Pickett, company captain, said: “Over the years we’ve been encouraged by the enthusiasm and commitment of the local young people, who have joined us each week to take part in a range of fun activities and events.
“We would love to celebrate this milestone with a service and get together for our members past and present, and give them the opportunity to chat and reminisce.”
The Boys' Brigade was founded in Glasgow in 1883 by Sir William Alexander Smith and caters to more than 50,000 young people in 1,450 groups.
