A 29-year-old Tadworth man appeared in court today via video link after being charged with attempted robbery, false imprisonment and criminal damage earlier this month.
Craig Gorringe, of Gorse Close, Tadworth, was arrested following a police chase through Epsom town centre on Monday, November 2.
Police were called at about 2pm on the Monday to reports of a man claiming to have a gun and demanding money from the High Street branch of Lloyds bank.
Dozens of officers in seven or eight police cars stormed to the town centre supported by sniffer dogs and a police helicopter.
Appearing via video link at Guildford Crown Court from High Down prison, Mr Gorringe spoke to confirm his name at the preliminary hearing, and was told his hearing had been adjourned.
His plea and case management hearing will take place on Wednesday, January 20.
He will remain in custody until then.
