An 11-year-old girl was approached by a "smelly" and "unkempt" man in his 50s who told her she should not be walking home alone.
The Berrylands safer neighbourhood team said the approach took place in Surbiton Hill Park near Green Lane Recreation Ground on September 7.
They said: "The male was a bit unkempt and smelt which made the girl anxious. Police were called by the girl's parents a few hours later."
The girl was said to have ignored the man and ran home.
Extra police patrols have been put in but the man has not been seen again, according to the safer neighbourhood team.
Last week social media users reported a seven-year-old girl was approached by a man in a car outside the Berrylands Pub in Chiltern Drive, who asked her to get into the car.
But the pub had no knowledge of this, and neighbourhood police said it was not aware of any related reports.
This week, schools in neighbouring Wandsworth were warned after a man repeatedly approached two young girls in the space of five days.
He is described as white, aged between 30 and 40, with stubble on his face.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
