To celebrate its 10th birthday, Sunrise of Banstead threw a memorable Bollywood-themed party bringing together residents, staff and family – and celebrity dancer Lionel Blair.
As guests arrived at the party, they were welcomed by Sunrise staff dressed in colourful Bollywood clothing as well as an array of Indian snacks prepared by Sunrise chefs.

This set a fabulous tone for a day of festivities not dissimilar to that of a traditional celebration in Bangalore. But the setting was Banstead, and despite typically English (not Indian) weather, spirits were high.

To add to the excitement, Lionel Blair performed onstage and later toasted to the success of Sunrise with general manager Suzanne Spurgin.
As well as this, the family of one Sunrise resident gave a speech to express their gratitude to the care home.
Ms Spurgin said: "It was a wonderful afternoon and fantastic way to celebrate Sunrise of Banstead’s 10th birthday. Having Lionel here was a real treat for everyone as many of our residents are big fans of his."
Mr Blair, along with guests and residents, also took part in a ceremonious cutting of a specially-made birthday cake to round off proceedings on Thursday, July 30.
Ms Spurgin added: "The highlight for me was hearing the family of one resident speak to guests so warmly about the care their relative receives here. Stories like this are what makes working at Sunrise so enjoyable."
