A double glazer who found a kitten living in his van’s engine is looking for its rightful owner.

Ken Henderson and his partner Leigh Cramer have nicknamed the kitten Diesel until they track down the people who own him.

The couple first saw the four to five month old cat meowing loudly and covered in oil outside their Chessington home at 3am on Wednesday, July 15.

Later that day when Mr Henderson was at work he again heard meowing and when he opened the bonnet he discovered the kitten in the van’s engine.

He said: "He is a lovely little cat. He must have crawled in when I was doing my rounds.

"He was wearing a collar so he’s not a stray. We just want to get him back home."

Mr Henderson had been working in Wallington, Mitcham, Carshalton, north Cheam, Surbiton and Malden Rushett during the days he thinks Diesel might have crawled into his van.

Miss Cramer said: "We have two spoilt adult cats of our own whom are not happy having this playful young man in their house.

"I do not want to give him to the RSPCA as he is not a cat you would choose for looks and I feel he would be overlooked. "He has the most wonderful character and is very affectionate. Somebody somewhere must be missing this little chap and the cuddles he gives."
