KidsUnlimited, in Richmond Road, has tried hard to be more than just a place to drop off the kids for the day.

The nursery, which opened in May, has installed a coffee bar for parents making the trip into London for work – and at the beginning of next year, will even open a laundry service after feedback from clients.

Manager Naomi Manunta said because all her clients are new, her staff are “creating bonds and relationships with our families”.

She added: “A lot of them are commuting into London so we made a coffee bar here so they can pick up coffee for their journeys.

“We find out which subjects and occasions are important to them and we make sure to repeat and celebrate them in the nursery.

“Recently we had a Diwali party. Each room had their own party, we listened to music and we did activities based around Diwali.”

The nursery, based in a former doctor’s surgery, has two play rooms which cater for up to three dozen children on Wednesdays, its busiest day.

A third will be opened in January.

The large building has a garden space with a large sand pit, Wendy house and planting beds – where hunting for bugs is a favourite pastime among the kids.

Mrs Manunta said “the sky’s the limit” when it comes to creating new services or facilities for parents.

She added: “I don’t want them just to come in and drop off the kids and never see them again.”
