Renowned French chef Raymond Blanc has arrived in Fulham Reach with a new restaurant that sits just by the River Thames.

Blanc, who owns and is the chef of Michelin-starred restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons, adds the establishment to a collection of others in the capital which include Chancery Lane, Tower of London and Southbank.

As the sixth Brasserie Blanc location, here are sixth things we thought you ought to know...

1. Location, location, location

The main draw of the eatery is that it is situated so close to the River Thames, providing a unique location for diners.

Whether out with friends, family or on a casual stroll, you can walk along Thames Path and reach Hammersmith Bridge in little to no time at all.

What’s more is that both the Lyric Theatre and Hammersmith Apollo are right around the corner, too.

This could tick a few boxes for fans of the arts.

2. An after-work drinks first, dinner later feel

When you walk in through the double doors, aside from friendly staff, you are instantly greeted by the bar.

The furniture wraps around it and appears to be designed in a way that brings focus to the counter-tops and shelves that are stacked with wines and spirits. Behind it lies the kitchen.

For those stopping by for a tipple can stand next to the bar with a group of friends or colleagues, but those attempting to order food might feel crowded out.

Depending on how busy it is, of course.

There were no stools to sit on when we were there but maybe that has since changed.

3. No shortage of beverages on offer

The shelves appear to be polished with a selection of drinks, mostly wines that could go along with your meal.

Browsing the menu you can purchase the cheapest glass of white or red wine Cave de Masse for £5 per 175ml. Fancy some champagne? The Bollinger Special Cuvée is £65 per bottle.

You can sip on a range of cocktails such as a Paloma, Kentucky Apple or Spiced ‘N Stormy starting from £6.50

If you don’t visit for the food then at least go for the drinks.

4. Brasserie Blanc's signature appeal is what draws people in

The atmosphere and feel is something that perhaps sets apart Brasserie Blanc from other restaurants like it in the area.

Whether you walk through the doors and see the large initials of the brasserie or go outside and see its sign under dimmed lights, the identity is understated but clear.

For others, it’s what comes alongside the food or drinks that unique at least.

After their visit, one customer on TripAdvisor wrote: “The ambience was relaxed, the staff friendly and knowledgeable both with the menu and the wine list and the décor elegantly modern.”

Another one said: “The room is airy and light and tables are well set apart, logically laid out and enjoy great views of the river and its skyscrapers. The meet and greet is attractive and professional, the service fine and the menu and wine list well chosen.

“The food is good brasserie fare.”

5. The food can be expensive, but you probably get what you pay for

In most cases, it’s not often that you spend £23.90 on an eight-ounce fillet steak.

Better yet, you could get a rump or sirloin steak for less than half the price at your local Wetherspoon. But then most Wetherspoon branches do not offer grilled rock lobster tail and frites or a ravioli duo of goat’s cheese and rosemary.

It depends on why you are going: do you want food or an experience?

If you are a no-frills type of person then visit your nearest local. However, if you want to know what type of wine best complements your duck leg confit with black cherry sauce meal, then the staff are probably on hand to tell you just that.

6. Given what it presents, this restaurant is a serious contender

Brasserie Blanc has tough competition, since not everyone looks for the same thing.

We can be fickle people.

But it is difficult not to be impressed when you consider the context of it all – the food, drinks, atmosphere and location. A lot of it does fall into place.

A drawback is that it is nestled away from the main roads, meaning it can go ignored, but discovering it can come as a nice little surprise.
