LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)
WESTMORLAND WAY. MITCHAM (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2020
1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate service pipe works in Westmorland Way Mitcham, they have made an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. During the works no person will cause or permit any vehicle to:-

(a) enter or proceed in Westmorland Way, from the south-eastern kerb-line of Carisbrooke Road south-eastward for a distance of 30 metres; or

(b) wait, including for the purposes of loading or unloading, in the length of road specified in paragraph 2(a) above.

3. Any designated parking place situated in the length of Westmorland Way specified in paragraph 2(a) above will be suspended.

4. The restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed via Carisbrooke Road, Hertford Way and Yorkshire Road or vice-versa.

6. Nothing in the Order will apply to: -

(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform, or a police community support officer in uniform; or

(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes; or

(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited road or lengths of road insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.
7. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any waiting prohibition imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

8. The Order will come into operation on Monday 6th July 2020 with the works expected to be completed within 3 days. However, the Order will remain in force for 6 months should further works be required.

COVID-19 SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES
(UPPER GREEN EAST AND UPPER GREEN WEST. MITCHAM) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC AND SUSPENSION OF PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2020
1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that because of the likelihood of danger to the public and for purposes connected to coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), they have made an Order, the effect of which will be to continue in force the provisions of a temporary notice issued under sections 14(2) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 temporarily restricting vehicular traffic and suspending parking places in the lengths of Upper Green East and Upper Green West specified in the Schedule to this Notice to better enable pedestrians to keep a safe 2 metres distance from each other during the coronavirus pandemic.

2. Whilst the Order is in force:-

(a) no person will cause any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading, in the roads or lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this Notice;

(b) any designated parking place situated in the roads or lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this Notice will be suspended.

3. The restrictions and suspensions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

4. Nothing in the Order will apply to: -

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform, or a police community support officer in uniform, or a Civil Enforcement Officer; or

(b) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes at the time of any emergency.

5. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any waiting prohibition imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

6. The Order will come into operation on Monday 6th July 2020 and it is anticipated that the social distances measures will continue in force for 6 months. However, the Order will remain in operation until 14th December 2021 should the measures be continued or re­introduced.
