An Audi used by Princess Diana is going up for auction on Saturday, September 23, at Brooklands Museum, Weybridge.
The 1994 Audi 80 Cabriolet was loaned to the princess by Dovercourt Audi of St John’s Wood, London.
Apart from limousines, the Royal Mews owns very few cars and it is usual for them to be provided by manufacturers like this for exposure.
According to sale notes, “her choice of an Audi Cabriolet would well have been due to the car’s understated elegance combined with a powerful engine”.
It appears in numerous press images with Diana.
The car’s current owner bought it in 2004 and used it as a family car for five years, before putting it in storage once they became aware of its history.
The auction house lists the value of the car at £14,000 to £18,000.
