Guides and Young Leaders from the 9th New Malden Guides recently held a ‘Do something bunny for money' sponsored event and raised over £430 for the Red Nose Day Comic Relief charity.

Becky gains highest award

From community correspondent Steve Wicks: A Queen's Guide award was presented to Becky Haimes this week by her mentor Liz Smith. This is the highest award for a girl in Guiding and represents considerable effort and achievement. Becky, who lived in New Malden is now working as a research scientist in Singapore was back in the UK for a short break before returning to her job and managed to find time to put together an outstanding display showing her many activities undertaken in the course of her work to achieve the award. Part of her work to achieve the award was a review of Kingston's care of children in need which was triggered by her visit to the Ukraine with Guides where she was initially involved in this work.

The well known TinTin themed pub became the setting for pony rides, face painting, a ceilidh, a charity raffle and TinTin Trivia quiz.
