The Green Walk Way Project in Tolworth was approved at the joint council meeting on the 15th of December. All the Lib Dems present all voted for and all the Consevative councillors present voted against. This isn’t the first time that unpopular decisions have been made by the Lib Dem councillors’ at the end of the year, when most people are busy with preparing for Christmas.
Is this a short sightedness from the Lib Dems!? They are aware the Broadway and A3 area has a very high pollution rate and that the unpopular Tesco development is still on going.
Vicki Harris and Rolson Davis where both photographed with the MP Ed Davey with face masks on in the paper less than 3 years ago, regarding the high levels of pollution. This is a painted Green walk way down the middle of the Broadway, this will be nothing to reduce the levels of pollution. They have also given their views against the unpopular Tesco development. So why help Tesco by resolving and paying for the Tolworth Roundabout to be opened. By installing pedestrians’ crossing and a walk way over to the where Tesco will likely to be located? If Tesco take their planning application to appeal at Bristol, the council as normal will not be able to afford to fight against Tesco.
Part of the £3 million, would have been better spent on installing a new barrier, better parking facilities and planting trees along the Broadway. No another walk way that isn’t needed.
