SIR. Who was responsible for the massive traffic jams that froze roads coming in to Kingston over Kingston Bridge last week?
It was utterly ridiculous - journeys that should only have taken 20 minutes were extended to up to an hour.
There is nothing worse than sitting motionless in traffic without any idea of the cause.
When, lo and behold, we finally reach Kingston town centre, what was to blame for all of this?
Two of the three lanes around the one-way system were closed outside the new Tesco near Kingston station.
Did someone at the council not know what chaos this would cause? Why could it not close just one lane? Did the roadworks all have to go on all week? Is there more to come or will we have a period of grace before motorists are punished, yet again, for the sin of wanting a convenient form of transport?
Someone should be held to account.
