I applaud Kingston Council on its worthy and necessary introduction of the new recycling and landfill waste collection service, a challenging mammoth task for any local authority.
I commend the council, too, on the excellence of the material provided to residents, both written and functional, relevant to the scheme.
This new enterprise affords unrivalled opportunity for the borough to become a model of good citizenship.
However, the council cannot achieve this on its own. It needs the unqualified support of all householders, with readiness to adapt. We have a duty to act responsibly and patiently through inevitable teething troubles, wholeheartedly joining forces with our council in its aim to preserve natural resources and protect the environment for ourselves in future generations.
We are privileged to live in this borough, so let us treat it with value and due respect.
