Since the recent repaving work, the kerb-side “dropdowns” at the junctions of Wellington Close and Hepworth Way and Bridge Road and Hepworth Way have been replaced by kerbs with a drop of several inches – enough to make them impassable for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
This could mean a disabled person – or maybe a pram – being stuck in the road in front of oncoming traffic.
To make things worse, these fake access points are highlighted by the usual ridged pavement markings – a dangerous piece of misinformation that will presumably remain until someone is injured or a wheelchair or scooter is damaged.
How did a foreman or manager not spot this?
Or did they not care?
