With regard to the developments proposed by Tesco, one also needs to take into consideration the plans by CNM Estates to redevelop the Tolworth Tower site, creating an increase in homes, as well as parking and retail sites.
While there is no doubt the proposed Tesco location is in desperate need of something, the first consideration should be how any increase in traffic would affect the area.
The other question would be what is considered “affordable housing”. I doubt many residents could afford to buy anything in either of the plans.
It would be interesting to see both site developments in a combined exhibition, and get an idea of the full impact on Tolworth, traffic flow and parking.
