Kingston Council is not considering moving all recycling collections to a fortnightly cycle (Waste woes, December 5).
The proposal is for weekly collections to take place, but the collections will be picking up paper and card one week, and then glass, plastic and cans the following week.
Other collections will remain unchanged.
In this way, the council will save £4.2m.
This makes up approximately the salaries of 17 teachers or social workers over the course of the contract.
Surely that makes good economic sense?
