Regarding letters about Israel and Palestine from Name and address supplied.

Some of the letters are very similar – perhaps from the same person? How do we know the answer to this?

I repeat that the Surrey Comet should not print these letters if the writers do not allow their names to be given, especially when they contain inaccurate and ludicrous accusations, in one case against the members of Kingston Peace Council/CND, of which I am one.

Of course, none of our members would condone any violent actions, such as the firing of rockets.

However, this does not mean we cannot understand why desperate people would resort to this.

It is generally known that the Palestinian population in Gaza is trapped there – they cannot leave or go to shelters.

There is no defensive shield above them. Of course, we all deplore any loss of life, such as the child killed in Israel mentioned by one of the correspondents, but please remember that, in Gaza, there are more than 500 such families grieving after the actions of Israel this summer alone.

It is essential that the Palestinians receive justice and that the Israeli defence force ceases to attack them with their superior weaponry. There can be no peace while such actions continue.
