I would add to the article in last week's Comet about the scrapping of the counter service for parking permits.

It seems that all requests for new or replacement permits will now be answered by post - making it impossible to get a permit issued on the day.

Indeed we are told requests will take up to two weeks to process. Since you need to return your old permit to get a new one, it seems it will now be impossible to change a vehicle. It will also be impossible to get a temporary permit for a courtesy car without knowing its registration in advance, or indeed to get new visitors' permits should an urgent need arise.

I understand the new council have inherited this problem from the previous administration, but the new arrangements seem completely unfit for purpose and the issue needs addressing so that a same-day service is restored as a matter of urgency.
