As the New Year kicks into full swing, people are seeking ways to burn of all the festive food they ate over the Christmas period. In Teddington, many people have begun running the bushy park run as a way of kick starting their weekend. The run starts promptly at 9am every Saturday morning. It’s a 5k run welcoming all abilities, and in 2018 has had over 1000 runners attending each race.

The run is free of charge and is organised by a team of local volunteers who help the event run smoothly every week. The course itself is fairly pleasant; the terrain is all level and nice to run on. The scenery is an added bonus as the park is rather quite in the early hours of a Saturday morning. The route is well marked and easy to follow, with marshals encouraging you along the way; motivating you to make it to the end.

Once you do reach the finish line, more kind volunteers funnel you through queues to collect barcodes for scanning. This allows you to find out your time and position on the event website when you arrive home. Steve G who frequently attends the run said: “he thoroughly enjoys the bushy park run as he likes starting his weekend in such a positive way and that being in such a stunning setting makes it even more enjoyable!” As you can tell the run is free, family friendly and a fun experience that everyone should come and try.
