Research shows that over the course of your life, you are likely to have three to four accidents on the road. At 20:18 on Saturday 9th December 2017, on Park Hill roundabout in Croydon, one such car crash occurred where an Audi Q5 collided head-on with a BMW Active Tourer.

Though the crash did not result in any fatalities, both parties were severely shaken. Whilst one car was exiting the roundabout, the other, whose driver was said not to be under the influence of alcohol, came speeding towards the car, and crashed into the door of the passenger seat. Due to a crash on a nearby road prior to this accident, and several witnesses alerting them, the police arrived at the scene within minutes.

Survivor of the crash, Sangeetha Rammohan said “It was so unexpected and happened in a matter of seconds. One minute we were discussing what to eat for dinner, and the next I heard the crunch of metal on metal and the kids screaming in the back. I am so glad my family are safe, because any other car, that isn’t as sturdy as this one, could have led to more severe injuries.”

Whilst the family whose car was barrelled into have expressed overwhelming relief regarding their safety, the car, which was only three months old, has approximately £8,000 worth of damage to it. The windscreen of the Audi shattered, and the car has been written off. Immediately after the crash, neither car was in driving condition, and it took more than three hours for rescue services to reach them.

The family did not have great luck when it came to road accidents, facing three accidents in this current year itself. All that’s left to be said is, as the roads get icier, make sure to stay safe during this wintry season!
