Are you thinking of joining or supporting young choirs in your local area of London? The Rodolfus Foundation may be perfect for you! Founded by Ralph Allwood MBE, the Rodolfus Choir has toured throughout Europe and featured on several UK broadcasts, such as BBC Radio 3's Choral Evensong and BBC TV's Songs of Praise. The choir is comprised of singers aged 16 to 25 who have been selected from past and present Eton Choral Courses. These are residential week-long summer courses available for anyone aged 16-20, and were also founded by Allwood who has helped cultivate the musical ability and interest of over seven thousand young people.

On the 28th of October, the Rodolfus Choir gave a magnificent performance of Mozart's Requiem as a part of the Brandenburg Choral Festival. The full SATB choir combined with the sublime acoustics of St. Gabriel's Church, Pimlico ensured a glorious revival of this classic piece of choral repertoire. The Brandenburg Choral Festival was initiated as a platform for amateur choirs to perform in central London venues, and it is London's biggest and broadest celebration of choral works and choral singing. The next upcoming performance by the Rodolfus Choir is The Haven Trust Charity Christmas Carol Service at 7pm on Wednesday 13/12/17 at St Paul's Church, Knightsbridge. Be sure to come along since it will undoubtedly be a captivating and thoroughly enjoyable performance!

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH RALPH ALLWOOD:

- Why did you found the Rodolfus choir and what was your vision for it?

"I wanted a choir made up of the best young people I could find: people passionate about music."

- Your choirs sing mostly "classical music" (in the broader sense of the term). Do you have a particular interest in maintaining awareness and appreciation for this type of music?

"I conduct good music; whatever is good I do it. For example, Inner Voices (my local West London school choir) performed music from Porgy and Bess by Gershwin in the Barbican - that is outstandingly good music! I will do good music of any genre."

-What defines 'good music' and 'bad music'?

"Good music is what you say good music is: what he says good music is, what he says and what she says... and gradually we get a consensus. As the years roll by, gradually the consensus becomes clearer."
