A Staffordshire Bull Terrier went missing from Iver Village on the 21st October after being frightened by fireworks and eating through the back gate of her garden in order to get out.

Honey, a 17-year-old brindle Staffie, is a well loved family pet who was described by her owner in a Facebook post as ‘very fragile’ and ‘totally harmless’. She escaped from her back garden during the early evening of Saturday 21st, whilst her owner had been dropping her children off at a school disco around 6.30pm. However, her owner became held up on her way home, preventing her from getting back in time to let Honey in before the fireworks started. She returned home to find that her dog had gotten out, having been startled by the festivities and chewed her way through the back gate in order to escape. Her owner stated that she “rushed to the back garden just after 7pm and noticed she (Honey) had eaten a hole in the wooden gate and gotten out”.

Honey later turned up outside of somebody’s home that night, with the residents happily taking her in due to her friendly nature, before they handed her over to the dog warden. After searching for her beloved pet non-stop all night and getting no sleep, Honey’s owner was informed on Sunday morning that her dog had been found and was currently being looked after by the dog warden. However, as of yet she has not been allowed to have her dog returned and is being made to pay a substantial sum of money before Honey is released.
