Technology is advancing quicker than ever and the majority of the younger generation are just as involved as adults are. However, with almost every teen in the country having a phone, should we be concerned what this exposure to the World Wide Web might do to them?

Teachers are concerned how excessive use of technology might affect school grades. Also parents are worried what their children might be able to access. Jane Monaghan, a primary school teacher said: ‘I am worried that warped perceptions of women, that are seen online could cause anxiety and other mental health issues,’ Girls may feel compelled to change their appearance in order to match the models.

Although this is true, children these days are becoming more educated on the importance of Internet safety. This helps them to understand the ways in which the Internet can be dangerous.

Adults should also make sure their child is responsible enough before letting them sign up to various social media sites such as snap chat and instagram. Once establishing safety precautions the apps allow teens to socialise with others through common interests and opinions. It is an innovative way that teens can express themselves creatively online.

Also we have to realise teens these days are more educated on technology than adults. They know how to work things and create games and much more. They are our future and technology is part of their key to success!
