Richmond Council is one of multiple London organisations that have developed a new texting service that sends respiratory illness sufferers pollution forecasts for the day ahead. AirTEXT messages are sent in a recipient-chosen time bracket and feature brief information on the intensity of the day’s pollution levels, likely symptoms and appropriate health advice.
The non-intrusive service is available for those that live or work in London, and is targeted at sufferers of asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, heart disease or angina. Parents of sufferers are also encouraged to subscribe, particularly during the summer months.
Richmond Councillor Pamela Fleming, characterised the service as ‘free and must have’.
To subscribe to the service, search ‘AirTEXT sign up’ online.
