You've probably all seen the rich couple on Instagram who have shared their relationship with the world on Valentine's Day. A proposal in Paris? 1000 red roses delivered to her door? A new puppy? We are constantly bombarded with social media's vision of a perfect relationship - has it got us all confused as to what a real relationship is like? Unless you're part of the notorious Rich Kids of Instagram, you probably didn't bother to make that much of a big deal with Valentine's Day with your dearest - but instead chose to spend your money on something you can afford. I know for sure I did; we got each other a card, and had a meal at Nando's and had a free trip to the gorgeous 'Sky Garden' - and we were perfectly content. I asked some couples what they did on the passion-spirited day, one citing ‘We just sat inside watching movies and we ordered pizza - definitely nothing fancy’. Social media can change our ideas of what the perfect relationship or date is; we are always going online wondering if we are doing, or if our significant other, are doing enough to maintain the relationship (wersm.com says that 25% of couples have admitted to having difficulties in relationships because of ‘confrontational online’ behaviour). But maybe we need to slow down. Slow down and realise that it is not all about the filters and the you-can-only-see-our-relationship-when-we-aren't-arguing posts and realise what you love and want is right before you. Think about the free things. Kiss the man you want to marry in the summer rain, pick flowers for the girl down the street you've always found pretty, dance with your partner in the train station at 1am to the man with the saxophone melodies and hold the one who holds you. Not to be obscenely poetic, but, to quote The Alchemist: 'I love you because the entire universe conspired to help me find you' - isn't that gift enough?

Do not bat an eyelid at the pictures online of the 'perfect' couples. Just know of the beauty of being loved and being in love. Fall in love with love and the gifts will reveal themselves to you.

Looking for a nice place to go in Wimbledon for a date? Why not take a walk and pick flowers on Wimbledon Common, or see a film at Wimbledon ODEON?

P.S: I hope you find the one who makes you feel whole and makes everyday beautiful and light, even when the sun is not shining. Happy belated Valentine's Day.
