The Lady Eleanor Holles Careers Evening

As usual, the annual Lady Eleanor Holles School Careers Evening (joint with Hampton) was a great success! Having attended last year and  fully aware of the high calibre of the wide range of  delegates, most of which were LEH alumnae and parents of the girls,  my friends I were eagerly anticipating returning and finding out more about different careers.

The evening lasted two hours, with representatives from all career paths present  including medicine, law, engineering, media, publishing, business and experimental physics. Aimed primarily at  year 11s and 12s the entire evening was informal and relaxed, with the intention of inspiring students through casually chatting with the experts and potentially gaining work experience.

It is well known by my acquaintances that I am a very indecisive person, demonstrated through the fact that I changed my A level  choices three times! However, after leaving  this motivating event I now have a much clearer vision of my future life and career path: psychology. After talking with a passionate woman working in Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics and a psychologist with experience in many aspect of his field, and hearing all about their exciting and interesting lives,  I was further inspired to apply to study psychology at University. I  believe that it was essential to talk to a  mixture of different people with different backgrounds,  in order to  truly  benefit from all their combined expertise and knowledge. Therefore, I spoke with  a research scientist , a journalist and an ex-pupil who now manages three Youtubers.

My friends and I have all truly benefitted from the Evening, with one discovering  a lot more about army life and another unearthing a passion for youtube and the media industry!

I would like to express my enormous  gratitude to the LEH and Hampton school careers department for organising such a brilliant evening  as well as , of course, the exceptional delegates who paid both schools a visit!
