Over the past year, many events have occurred following his death such as the pledge by his fans to restore the bandstand where he played which is currently in line to be restored and his memorial at his house where he grew up in Beckenham. He died on the 10th January 2016 with a legacy of 29 albums, numerous films and a variety of awards. He had also just released his new album two days before on his birthday.

His fans in Bromley demanded that the bandstand where he performed at should be restored. He performed here in 1969 as part of the Beckenham Arts Lab Growth Summer Festival. Located at Croydon Road recreational ground, over £90,000 was raised through donations, collections at local shop and some restaurants such as Zizzis giving 30% off main meals if a donation of at least £15 is given. The bandstand is now in line for restoration.
