Ian Bell struck the 10th Test century of his career as England moved within touching distance of a first-innings lead against Bangladesh on the third evening of the second Test.
Bell resumed in the morning on 25 and put in an assured display over two and a half energy-sapping sessions, scoring 138 in England's 415 for six.
Bangladesh, who posted 419, harboured genuine hopes of a workable lead of their own when Jonathan Trott fell in the third over of the day. But none of the marginal decisions went their way and after Matt Prior was dismissed for a sprightly 62, Bell and Tim Bresnan - who hit a maiden half-century in only his second Test innings - combined well before the former was dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan.
