Murray: Royal visit no distraction

Andy Murray shrugged off any talk of nerves after he breezed to second round victory in front of the Queen on Thursday.

Her Majesty was making her visit to the hallowed courts since 1977, and watched in delight as Murray trounced Jarkko Nieminen 6-3 6-4 6-2.

And the Scot revealed he had barely given a second thought the most esteemed spectator.

Murray said: "It's my job to be able to put those sort of things to the back of my mind when I am playing.

"You realise after you have finished what the occasion was and who was watching you and obviously it is an honour and a privilege to play in front of the Queen.

"But when you are in a tournament you tend to have a routine you stick to and I just went along with that."

Murray seemed to get more edgy in the three bows her performed to the Royal than the match itself, which after a sticky opening game went exactly to plan.

And the number four seed was satisfied with his outing.

Murray added: "Once I held the first game and then broke straigtaway that settled me down a bit.

"It was a good match.

"I served really well and I felt comfortable on the court and well-focused."
