Wimbledon teenager into Australian Open final

Wimbledon teenager Laura Robson has booked her place in the girls' singles final at the Australian Open with a comprehensive victory over Kristyna Pliskova of the Czech Republic.

The 2008 Wimbledon junior champion took just over an hour to cruise through 6-3 6-1.

Robson, 16, who also made it to the last eight of the women's double competition with Australian partner Sally Peers, dropped serve only once in an impressive display, and now plays Pliskova's twin sister, Karolina, in the final on Saturday (2am GMT).

She will be aiming to go one better than last year, when she lost at the final hurdle.

"I'd love to win a second junior Grand Slam," Robson said.

"I think I've really improved since last year in all aspects, especially my movement.

"I also feel more comfortable on court."

Karolina Pliskova will pose a different challenge to her sister, as she is right-handed.

Melbourne-born Robson said: "Last year, I was really nervous going into the final and then I didn't really feel comfortable playing against Ksenia Pervak of Russia but, hopefully, this year it will be different."
