If director of rugby Conor O’Shea did not know his front row resources are stretched to near breaking point – he does now.

Tighthead prop Kyle Sinckler has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury sustained in Saturday’s spectacular 42-14 defeat to Saracens at Wembley.

O’Shea has already brought in Matt Shields – now the only fit senior tighthead at the club – from Darlington Mowden Park this season ahead of a planned switch in the summer.

Paul Doran-Jones and Will Collier are already long term absentees a fact that has seen academy prop Seb Adeniran-Olule used in the matchday squad this term.

It means Quins’ chances of securing an automatic place in the European Champions Cup next term with a top six finish, have suffered another blow.

One win in their past six Premiership matches has them nine points adrift of sixth -placed Wasps.

Meanwhile, new signing Tim Visser cannot wait to get started at the the club.

The giant Scotland winger, who scored 66 tries in 122 appearances for Edinburgh, finalised a switch to the Stoop on Monday.

He joins Wales prop Adam Jones and Australian lock James Horwill among the big name arrivals at the club next season.

“I’m really looking forward to playing with an amazing pool of talent,” he said.

“There are all the England guys, some very exciting youngsters and players like Adam Jones, who I know from the Celtic League, and James Horwill, who I have heard great things about. It’s great to see names like that popping up.”
