Director of rugby Conor O'Shea says his Harlequins will not give up on a top four finish, but knows they will have to fight hard for it.

Quins crumbled in the face of a brutle Wasps forward effort at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday as the hosts ran out convincing 37-6 winners.

Tries from Tom Varndell, Elliot Daly and two penalty tries secured the bonus point triumph that fired Wasps up to fourth in the table.

O'Shea's men host Exeter Chiefs knowing only a win will do to maintain hope of landing a place in the Premiership semi-finals.

"There is an expectation we have to meet and when we are not meeting that it is harder to take, but I expect people to look at themselves and fight," he said.

"I expect them to fight for what we are about, where we want to be and where we expect to be and that job can only be done in six days time.

"We cannot feel sorry for ourselves, we have to fight because it is a tough and unforgiving league. We've been in that top four for the last three seasons and we are desperate to be there.

"I won't give up fighting, my team will not give up fighting and it is a must win at Exeter. We have to win it."

Skipper George Robson, who was yellow carded in the second half of an ill disciplined Quins display, could not cap the week when he announced his departure from the club with a win.

The 29-year-old heads to France and Top 14 strugglers Oyonnax next season and is keen to end his career at the Stoop on a high.

And for that to happen, he admits Quins need to do some soul searching ahead of next week.

“We didn’t play very well and Wasps played really well. They are good strong side,” he said.

“We said before the game we have got to tackle Nathan Hughes and we didn’t do that. It is as simple as that.

“You cannot play against any team and miss your first up tackles like we did.

“The referee made some bad calls, but for him to make as many calls against us as that there is a pattern and our discipline was not good enough.

“We’ve got to look at ourselves and work out how we go forward from here.

“We’ve got to look at ourselves it is about fronting up in six days time and focus on what we can to put things right.”
