St George’s College director of sport James Reynolds might have been in the minority as he celebrated after England’s 24-21 defeat to New Zealand last Saturday.

Former student Anthony Watson came off the bench in the second half to win his first England cap and become the Weybridge school’s first full rugby international.

The 20-year-old Bath star has worn the senior shirt before, but only in non-capped friendlies.

“This is a very special moment for both St George’s Junior School and St George’s College, as Anthony attended both schools,” said Reynolds.

Watson impressed enough to secure a starting spot for Saturday's clash with South Africa as a replacement for injured Bath team-mate Semesa Rokoduguni.

Quins stars Chris Robshaw, Joe Marler, Mike Brown and Danny Care all start with winger Marland Yarde landing a place on the bench.
