Rosslyn Park’s Laurence Ovens and Dan Richmond have both had to withdraw from this weekend’s England Counties squad.
Prop Ovens and hooker Richmond were called up to the team, coached by Park’s head coach Jan Bonney, for the first time for the match against the Ulster Bank International Team at Preston Grasshoppers RFC on Friday but have been forced out due to injury.
Team-mates, fly-half Ross Laidlaw and centre Dom Shabbo are still in line to make their first Counties appearances.
Park’s Sam Edgerley meanwhile will also be on international duty this month after being named in the England Sevens squad for the Cathay Pacific HSBC Hong Kong Sevens from March 23 to 25 and the Japan Sevens.
“Sam’s been rewarded for the progress he’s made and he’s been outstanding in a very competitive training environment in the build-up to two key tournaments,” said head coach Ben Ryan.
Injury-hit Park beat Stourbridge 25-22 last Saturday thanks to two Ben Gotting tries and scores from Richmond and Joe Trayfoot.
They have a break from action this weekend.
