Rosslyn Park’s 19-18 win at Coventry – ending the Midlanders’ undefeated record at home – saw them retain second position in the National League One table.

They are three points behind the leaders, Doncaster, who have yet to travel to Roehampton.

Having played the other two top sides away on successive Saturdays, by contrast Park play basement club Hull Ionians at home this weekend.

Head coach, Alex Codling described himself as chuffed to bits on Sunday morning, but he has emphasised throughout the season that there are no bad teams in the league.

The Humberside club underlined that assertion last Saturday by claiming the four-try bonus against title-chasing Esher.

Codling said: "I was thrilled with the win yesterday. The work ethic and desire from the boys was exceptional. The way we closed out the last five minutes of the game was truly outstanding.

“It has been an extremely tough last few weeks and the squad has been stretched, but I have been delighted with the effort and application of the players who have come into the side.

“It is great to be back at home this Saturday after two weeks on the road. Our opponents Hull Ionians showed with their comeback against Esher that it will be another tough encounter but the boys are buzzing at the moment and are keen to push on from last Saturday."

Key forwards Richard Boyle and Sam Shires have missed the past two matches, and Codling will be keen to hear some good news from the treatment room.
