Second row Sam Twomey reckons pre-season wins over London Irish and USA prove Quins can avenge defeat to Wasps on the golf course with a Premiership opening day triumph on Friday.

Twomey, Will Collier, Ben Botica and Mark Lambert put their gum shields and boots to one side last week and lost out to Wasps pair Joe Simpson and Rob Miller in a series of golf challenges at World Of Golf, New Malden.

Simpson and Miller triumphed in the closest to the pin and Protracer challenges before losing by two shots over nines holes of the Jurassic Encounter crazy golf course.

But Twomey believes the series whitewash will count for nothing when the players go head-to-head at the Stoop on Friday night.

“All the lads had a great evening at World of Golf New Malden, the technology they have is really clever and made for some good competition.

“Wasps got the win on this occasion, but we will let them have that as next Friday is when it really counts. The boys are raring to go.

"We have had a good pre-season and strong wins against the USA and London Irish. We are all excited to get stuck in when it all starts on Friday evening against Wasps.

“The support we have at the Stoop is amazing, it’s a great atmosphere every week and the lads are looking forward to getting back out there.

"We are looking to start our campaign well and begin to build a fortress for the new season.”
