London Cornish press officer Ben Gilby hailed the rugby community after a day of charity raised more than £1,000.

Saturday’s charity fundraising event, held at the exiles’ Roehampton Vale home, was in aid of testicular cancer charities at The Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital and the Falmouth based ‘Pants’.

Gilby said: “The day was a great example of how the rugby community comes together to support each other, whether it be with auction donations, messages of support or coming down to join in.”

On the day, fundraisers took part in various activities including kicking as many successful conversions between the posts within an hour as they could.

There was also an auction, which is open until the August 8, was held with prizes – including a ball signed by the Harlequins first team – on offer from rugby tickets to signed merchandise.

The star lot was a package including an opportunity for a child to be a mascot at a Barbarians game to be held at Twickenham later this year.
