Head coach Eddie Jones believes Quinbs centre Joe Matchant has the potnetial to help England dominate world rugby in the long-term.

The 20-year-old was named in Jones' provision 45-man elite player squad set to meet at the Lensbury Club this weekend for a pre-season training camp as the Six Nations grand slam winners begin preparations for the forthcoming autumn internationals.

Fellow Quins Mike Brown, Danny Care, Chris Robshaw, Kyle Sinckler, Marland Yarde and Jack Clifford, who were all part of this summer's successful tour of Australia, are all retained in the squad.

While Quins prop Joe Marler has been recalled after taking a break from the game.

Marchant, who made eight appearances for Quins last term socring a try against Newcastle Falcons in April, scored in England's 45-21 U20 World Cup final triumph over Ireland this summer.

And Jones believes he has the potential to be a winner in the senior team, too.

“This camp sets the scene for November,” said England head coach Jones.

“It’s important to catch-up with the players prior to the start of the season and continue to put our plans in place.

Staying on: Quins academy graduate Charlie Walker signed a contract extension at the Stoop this week

“We’ll use this time to reset and review each player’s goals so they’re clear on what is expected of them between now and when we meet up again in October.

!It also gives us an opportunity to meet and assess some new players and ensure they are familiar with the England set-up.

“The long-term strategy for England is to develop a side who can be the most dominant team in world rugby, so we’ve chosen a number of new faces to attend this camp on the form they have shown recently or the potential we see in them.

“While we acknowledge that we’re moving in the right direction we also recognise that defeat is never far away.

"It’s important the players all keep trying to improve and push themselves to reach new standards in their game.”
