Danny Care has backed Nick Easter’s big game mentality to land himself a place in head coach Stuart Lancaster’s England squad for the World Cup.

Easter, back to fitness having missed the recent training camp in Denver though injury, has been named among the replacements for Saturday’s second pre-tournament warm-up clash with France in Paris.

Chris Robshaw will return to lead the team while there are also starting slots for Quins full back Mike Brown and prop Joe Marler.

Care, who came off the bench in last Saturday’s 19-14 win over Les Bleus at Twickenham stadium, is again one of the replacements with Ben Youngs starting ahead of him.

Lancaster has urged the likes of Easter and Care to make an impression as he looks to name his final 31-man squad for the World Cup, which opens with England’s clash against Fiji no September 18.

And the 28-year-old number nine reckons his veteran clubmate, who can cover second row and number eight positions, is just the man to pull a performance out of the bag when he needs it most.

“Minty [Easter] is great guy to have around,” he said.

“He is a big game player and if he gets a chance you know he’ll play well.

“He is working hard and training hard. He is a in a very tough position, which we are all in.

“But I’m sure if he gets a chance he will take it.”
