Charlie Robertson hailed his race victory at Brands Hatch on Sunday as his best to date.
The 14-year from Whyteleafe chalked up his third win of the Ginetta Junior Championship season in round 18 as he held off newly-crowned champion Seb Morris on the final lap.
It was his eighth podium finish of the year and moved him into a clear second position in the championship standings with two rounds remaining.
“I think that could be my best win yet”, said the Caterham School pupil, who finished fourth on round 17 on Saturday.
"I dropped back at the start and really had to work for it.
"I’ve never been in a situation on the last lap where someone has been so close to me and pressuring me so much, that definitely makes the win so much sweeter.
“It was really hot in the car and such hard work but really good too, it’s a great result for us.
"We’ve made second in the championship more secure, especially with George Gamble not finishing, and I think this win shows I can be a real contender for next year.”
Robertson's debut season of car racing comes to a conclusion on October 15 and 16 at Silverstone.
